An Acoustical (i.e. shape-based) Solution

By reshaping the aperture (hole) in which a two-port microphone is housed, we have created a technology that prevents the input of noise from a user's environment. Background noise hits both the front and the back ports in phase, thereby canceling itself out. The speaker's voice however, is concentrated on the front port and deflected from the back port. This enables the microphone to transmit a strong speech signal, devoid of background noise. The result is a dramatic enhancement in clarity that performs even in 115 decibels (imagine the noise level at an arena rock concert).

Miniaturizing the Technology

theBoom technology can easily be integrated into products with minimal design modifications and no rewiring. In our design facility's anechoid chamber we continue to develop and test new shapes and sizes.

The Range of Application Possibilities

For UmeVoice's clients on the noisy trading floors of Wall Street brokerages, theBoom technology ensures both that the voice recognition software analyzes their trade messages accurately and that their customers hear them clearly during phone conversations. In a phone headset, theBoom guarantees that the other party hears the caller's voice, and only the caller's voice. Standing in a rainstorm, someone with theBoom technology in his or her headset would still come in loud and clear to the person on the other end of the call. Similarly, in a vehicle in the loud environment of a battlefield or in the cockpit of an airplane, a theBoom equipped headset would deliver clear speech.
