Speech Intelligibility
Key criteria for reliable and robust speech recognition are clear undistorted speech (flat frequency response), a high S/N ratio and no clipping of the sound signal as it passes from the speaker’s mouth into the speech recognition system.
UmeVoice’s acoustic passive noise-Canceling technology cancels out noise before it enters the signal. This is inherently better than attempting to remove the noise from the signal after it is already mixed in. A high signal to noise ratio (S/N) is attained without sacrificing the flat frequency response.
UmeVoice’s microphone technology is therefore ideally suited for speech recognition in diverse acoustic environments with varying background noise types and levels. This technology becomes especially valuable in high noise environments. Our technology has been proven in the lab in the form of higher speech intelligibility in MRTs (modified rhyme tests) performed both in-house and by external military labs. We have also been extremely successful in implementing robust speech recognition applications on Wall Street’s noisy trading floors (90+ db noise) using UmeVoice’s noise Canceling technology.

An acoustically based approach, theBoom & theCobra accentuates the user’s voice by concentrating it in the front of the microphone while deflecting the voice from the back port. The background noise is directed towards both ports to reduce noise vibration.

Highest noise rejection:
theBoom & theCobra has an average 10 dB improvement over the M-87 with a maximum of 30 db improvement in average speech bandwidth.

UmeVoice's technology improves intelligibility scores to 82% in noise levels of 105 dB compared to 72% intelligibility for the M-87 noise canceling microphone.
